Varun 'super emotional' doing film with 'perfectionist' Rohit

Darpan News Desk IANS, 01 Jun, 2016 01:30 PM
Actor Varun Dhawan says that he felt "super emotional" being directed by his "perfectionist" brother Rohit Dhawan for their film "Dishoom".

"For me, honestly, it is super emotional. He's my brother and he is my hero in real life. And I even remember when 'Desi Boyz' released, I went to every theatre and tried to find out what the audience reaction was. It's different from my film releasing or my father's film releasing or a friend's film releasing. I can't really put it in words how it feels, when your own blood gives his life to make something special.

"There is one person needed who has to be very obsessive when he's making this film, he has to give it his all, he goes all or nothing. And that was Rohit and I'm proud that his madness made this film work," said Varun at the trailer launch of the film.

The trailer of "Dishoom" depicts John Abraham as Kabir and Varun as Junaid who are police officers trying to crack the case of a mysterious disappearance of India's star cricket batsman just before a crucial India versus Pakistan final match.

Regarding a particular sequence where he had to jump on a car, Varun said: "We were not getting the perfect take, and he's (Rohit) quite a perfectionist. We kept doing it again and again."

While doing the scene, Varun's finger got hurt when it got jammed beneath the bonnet of the car. He said: "It was very hot and because of that pain I got a heat stroke and I don't think I fainted but he claims that I fainted."

Rohit said: "He kind of fell unconscious technically for 30 seconds."

Rohit, though, doesn't echo "super emotional" Varun's views. "Emotions are all at home, not while shooting; we were extremely professional with each other in the capacity of an actor and director. Varun is an extremely hardworking, hungry actor, who wants to give his best to every single shot," he said.

In response, Varun said: "Honestly I feel that with me he was a bit more professional and you can ask the other actors. Wouldn't he shout on me the most on set? And John would take up for me always."

"Dishoom" also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Akshaye Khanna and Saqib Saleem releases on July 29.
