Actor Arjun Kapoor, who has made his foray into the small screen as the host of "Khatron Ke Khiladi - Kabhi Keeda Kabhi Peeda", says TV is a one-on-one medium.
The "Ishaqzaade" star says that while preparing himself for the Colors show, he was clear that he did not want to "replicate anybody".
"I wanted to be myself and not replicate anybody that I have grown up watching. I think TV is a one-on-one medium and you have to be yourself. Otherwise, it doesn't connect with the person watching," Arjun told IANS.
Asked if he faced any difficulty in hosting the action-adventure show, which was shot in Argentina, the "Gunday" actor said: "There was no difficulty. But I was aware that I am entering a new format. I was really clear about not falling into this trap of trying to have a style that has been seen already."
The 30-year-old actor, however, said being a host was quite a challenge in itself.
"It's like making your debut again! When you are an actor doing films, you have a director to guide you and there is a script in place. There are a lot of things that make you become a character. But in TV, you have to completely rely on yourself and have that confidence," added Arjun, who will next be seen in R. Balki's upcoming directorial "Ki and Ka".
Would Arjun like to host more reality TV shows?
He said: "I would like to believe that I will stay sincere and be loyal to the show I am working on as long as the loyalty works both ways. I am happy and continuing with 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'..."
The "Aurangzeb" star says he is happy hosting "Khatron Ke Khiladi", an adaptation of the American television show "Fear Factor" which features celebrity contestants facing their fears.
"I am not somebody who is planning to jump into television and do many things at one time... I think I have chosen the best possible platform for as young actor to make his entry into TV. I am very happy sticking to 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'."
