'The Kashmir Files' storms the BO, rakes in Rs 15 cr in single day

Director Vivek Agnihotri's latest film, 'The Kashmir Files' is showing phenomenal jump at the box office.
The film, which collected Rs 3.55 crore on its opening day, minted Rs 15 crore on its first Monday taking its collections to Rs 41.5 crore comfortably beating the day four collections of Alia Bhatt's recent release 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' which collected Rs 8.19 crore on Day 4, said film trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Going by the trends, the film is set to witness a steady footfall on Tuesday as well, adding another Rs 15 crore to its kitty.
As per trade analyst Sumit Kadel, "The kind of business 'The Kashmir Files' is truly historic for a small-budget film. The last time a film registered such an impressive business was in 1975 with 'Jai Santoshi Maa'. The film is set to rake in another Rs 15 crore by the end of Tuesday, same as Monday and Sunday."
The jump in the film's business is massive and much of it comes from the increased screen numbers. Sumit further adds, "It was released on 600 screens. On Sunday, the count increased to 2,000. Right now it's running on 2,500 screens in India."
As for the film's lifetime collection, Kadel said that "even Rs 200-250 cr collection connot be ruled out."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's support to the film could further boost the film's business. Speaking at the BJP parliamentary party meeting in Delhi, Modi took a dig at the critics of the film and said that the recently-released movie is foregrounding the truth that was deliberately kept hidden.
As for the film's run on the box office, it can affect the collections of the upcoming Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Bachchhan Paandey'.
If 'The Kashmir Files' maintains the number of screens that it has currently then it can seriously dent the business of 'Bachchhan Paandey'," Kadel concludes.
NCB official sources have hinted that there is apparently no evidence of any "drug-related exchanges" in her alleged WhatsApp chats with Aryan Khan - the son of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan - who has been arrested in the drugs case and currently in judicial custody till October 30.
The pony-tailed senior Khan sporting dark shades and a black facemask over a grey half-sleeved T-shirt was virtually mobbed by the paparazzi and the hordes of policemen as he entered the menacing barred gates of the ARCJ in the congested south Mumbai.
Along with Aryan Khan - the son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the other seven accused - arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on October 3 after the October 2 raid on a rave party aboard a cruise ship - were also sent to judicial custody till October 30 by the court.
Talking of 'Sooryavanshi', the film is now set for a massive theatrical release after its run-ins with delays and uncertainties. The film which also stars Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Jaaved Jaaferi with Ajav Devgn and Ranveer Singh in extended cameo appearances, will hit the screens on November 5 and will quell the audience's hunger for a true blue Bollywood potboiler, this Diwali.
Special NDPS Judge V.V. Patil also declined the bail applications of Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, the two others accused in the drug case lodged by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The unverifiable reports, attributed to unidentified NCB sources, claimed that Aryan Khan was purportedly 'full of guilt and remorse' over his recent actions leading to his arrest and custody since the past 17 days.
