Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has lent his voice as a 'sutradhar' of the forthcoming historical TV show “Razia Sultan”.
Based on the life of the first woman ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, the show aims to bring the message of women's empowerment to viewers through Razia Sultan's inspirational tale.
King Khan, who is heading back to television with the game show “India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun”, was reportedly approached for the historical drama in the middle of his shoot.
Shah Rukh, who visited the set of “Razia Sultan” Monday, had many questions in his mind regarding the characters, the look and the feel of the show. In an in-depth discussion, he took time to rehearse the lines as the dialect and diction had to match the era that he had to speak about.
“It was 1 a.m. but Shah Rukh's energy was high. While the channel representatives were happy with the first take, he insisted on doing it again with more variation. He then wanted to try something different and got under the skin of the characters, acting them out through dialogue,“ a source said in a statement.
Both “Razia Sultan” and “India Poochega Sabse Shaana Kaun” will be aired March 2 on the new channel &TV.
