Sridevi A Much Bigger Star Than Me, Shah Rukh, Aamir Or Akshay: Salman Khan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 14 Mar, 2017 11:36 AM
  • Sridevi A Much Bigger Star Than Me, Shah Rukh, Aamir Or Akshay: Salman Khan
Salman Khan couldn’t stop praising Sridevi on her illustrious career at an awards function in Mumbai recently, calling her an even bigger star himself, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. The first poster of Sridevi’s forthcoming film Mom was launched at the function.

Salman Khan’s rousing introduction of Sridevi at an awards function in Mumbai is the stuff you don’t see too often in Bollywood these days. The first poster of Sridevi’s forthcoming film Mom was unveiled at the function, and Salman couldn’t stop raving about the star.

After being introduced on stage by host Manish Paul as the ‘star of the millennium’, the Dabbang actor shushed him and started speaking about Sridevi’s volume of work.

“Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay (Kumar), we have all done many films. Aamir may have done about 50 films - he has a lot of time, as he does only one film per year; Shah Rukh may have done more than 100 films. Put together, we may have all done about 250-275 films.

But there is one legend who is very talented, dedicated, hardworking and professional. She completed 300 films, after starting her career as a child artiste. Our work cannot even be compared to this legend - she is none other than Sridevi!,” Salman was quoted as saying by The Asian Age.

Salman was referring to Sridevi’s vast body of work, not just in Hindi, but also in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada cinema.

Produced by Boney Kapoor, Mom is Sridevi’s first full-fledged role after five years of starring in the 2012 hit English Vinglish. The film, whose first look Sridevi tweeted on Tuesday, is said to be an emotional saga of a woman’s strained relationship with her stepdaughter, as she fights for an injustice done to her.

Directed by debutant Ravi Udywar, Mom’s poster, which Sridevi tweeted on Tuesday, is very intriguing. The word mother is written in many languages on it which appeals emotionally, but the colour used in the poster gives it a thriller-like feel.

The film will also feature Pakistani actors Sajal Ali and Adnan Siddiqui in important roles. Nawazuddin Siddiqui too will be seen in Mom.
