Sonam Kapoor to attend amfAR Gala in Cannes, honoured

Actress Sonam Kapoor will attend the prestigious amfAR Gala at the ongoing 69th Cannes Film Festival this year. She says she feels honoured to be a part of the charity event, adding that she hopes to pitch in for the effort "in every way possible".
 
The actress, who is the brand ambassador of L’Oréal Paris, will represent the cosmetic giant at Cannes. 
 
The Cannes Film Festival started on Wednesday and will go on till May 21. The actress, who will be also completing six years of attending the festival in 2016, will be seen walking the red carpet on May 15 and 16. 
 
amfAR Gala, established to raise funds for the fight against AIDS, is scheduled for May 19. 
 
“It’s an honour to be a part of the esteemed amfAR gala. I cannot stress enough the importance of AIDS research in our time. This foundation is doing such incredible work dedicated towards raising funds for life-saving research programs that help the fight against AIDS,” Sonam said in a statement. 
 
Sonam is expected to rub shoulders with the crème de la crème of fashion and world cinema. The names include the likes of Helen Mirren, Sharon Stone, Katy Perry, Kenneth Cole, Lewis Hamilton, Isabeli Fontana, Barbara Palvin and Irina Shayk. 
 
The star of films like “Neerja” and "Khoobsurat", has been personally invited to attend the coveted gala this year. On the other hand, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is a regular at the event, will be skipping the gala due to commitments towards her forthcoming film “Sarbjit”.
