Soldiers Fighting At The Border Are Real Heroes, Says Rajkummar Rao

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Jul, 2018 02:08 PM
National award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao says that the definition of a hero is changing and it is soldiers who protect the borders of the country who are heroes, not actors.

"I do not know what it feels like to be a hero, I am an actor and I always wanted to feel like an actor. In fact, if someone comes to me with a script and address the lead character as a hero, I insist to take the name of the character.

"We are not heroes. Heroes are those people who are fighting at the borders to protect us.... we are just doing our job. We are not heroes," he told media at the trailer launch of his horror-comedy film "Stree" on Thursday.

Actors Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, director Amar Kaushik, producer Dinesh Vijan among others were also present/

Asked about how he looks at the changing image of mainstream heroes of Bollywood from larger than life to more realistic, the "Newton" fame actor said: "I think the definition of heroes is changing. I think that is why our Bollywood superstar like Aamir Khan is playing a middle-aged father in a film like 'Dangal'."

"Yes, there will be a genre always which is action, where flaunting the body and doing action, will be part of acting; if you want to call it (such character) hero but I think now finally content is getting its due, character-driven stories are celebrated. Our audience wants actors to portray characters," he added.

"Stree" is releasing on August 31.
