S.Korean Actress Baek Jin-Hee To Visit India For Girl, Youth Empowerment

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 Apr, 2017 01:13 PM
South Korean actress and model Baek Jin-Hee is all set to pay her first visit to India to support gender equality and youth empowerment in the marginal sections of the community.

The actress, best known for her award-winning performance as the devious Empress Tanashiri in the 2013 hit period drama "Empress Ki", would be coming to the national capital as part of Plan India's programme from April 11 to 13.

Since 2012, she has been an ambassador for "Because I am a Girl" (BIAAG) campaign, a global initiative to create a world that values girls' rights, promotes girl empowerment and end to injustice.

Jin-Hee will participate in the graduation ceremony of 'Saksham', a programme to provide market oriented vocational skills and micro enterprise development to the underprivileged youth in the suburb of Dwarka, according to a statement released by Plan India on Saturday.

She will felicitate the girls in a digital learning centre set up to prevent girls from dropping out of school in the unorganised settlements of Delhi.

On the second day, she will join in the volunteer activity at SDMC primary school, Madanpur Khadar and would later visit the safer cities programme centre and meet the girls there.

Jin-Hee will conclude her tour by participating in a school wash programme and promote basic hygiene and safe water handling practices.
