  • Shahid Kapoor On Swara Bhaskar's Letter Criticising Padmaavat: It Is Not The Right Time For Such Thi

While critics and audiences are praising Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historical drama 'Padmaavat', actress Swara Bhaskar slammed the director for the 'glorification' of Sati and Jauhar in his recently-released epic period drama.

Shahid Kapoor, who essays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in the movie, has finally commented on the open letter and said that it feels odd that someone said something on a personal level.

When asked to comment on the matter, Shahid said, "I haven't read it yet. We have been busy with other things, but I think this isn't the right time. 'Padmaavat' is representing the film industry and it's freedom of expression."

He added, "It has been a tough battle for us to be able to bring forth the film to the audience. It feels great to receive support from the entire industry but it feels odd that someone said something on a personal level. That's OK though as everyone has the right to say what they want but I haven't read it yet."

Shahid surprised his fans by visiting Chandan theatre in Mumbai. The actor paid a visit to find out audience reaction to 'Padmaavat'.

Meanwhile, the film is roaring at the box-office as Ranveer-Deepika starrer entered the Rs. 100 crore club in its fourth day, making it Deepika's seventh film to cross Rs. 100 cr mark.
