Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his government for making his latest offering, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", tax-free in the state.

The 49-year-old actor took to micro-blogging website Twitter on Thursday to thank the Uttar Pradesh government.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan is tax free in UP. We thank the Govt of Uttar Pradesh. @yadavakhilesh," Salman tweeted.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan", which entered the Rs.100 crore club in its opening weekend itself, was made tax-free after the movie's director Kabir Khan met the chief Minister with the request.

The state has made many films tax-free in the past. These include "Tevar", "Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho", "Hamari Adhuri Kahani" and "Masaan".
