Saif Ali Khan Says He Was Nervous About Daughter Sara's Bollywood Debut

  • Saif Ali Khan Says He Was Nervous About Daughter Sara's Bollywood Debut

She may be star kid but Sara Ali Khan’s debut project, Kedarnath, has been mired in controversy. Now, that isn’t the best way to launch a career, in Bollywood terms, but here she was, unwittingly caught in a mess. However, thankfully all that is set to change and the film is on course to hit the screens and will release on November 30.

A relieved Saif Ali Khan, Sara’s dad, spoke to Bollywood Life, stating that he is confident that his daughter will make a great debut with Kedarnath. When asked if he was anxious about her debut, he said: “I am confident she will do very well. She is in the right hands. I am not nervous anymore.”

Kedarnath has been directed by Abhishek Kapoor and will star Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara in the lead roles. Abhishek had earlier directed Fitoor, which starred Katrina Kaif. Kedarnath is said to be a love story, set against the backdrop of the Uttarakhand floods of 2013.

The film has had its share of controversies. First, Abhishek was adamant that it be released on the same day as Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. Thankfully, a needless clash with a big film has now been averted. Later, according to reports, Sara was sent a legal notice for signing her second film, Simmba.

Earlier, the film got delayed due to a dispute between Abhishek and film’s former producers, KriArj Entertainment. KriArj later handed over the film’s rights to Abhishek in return for their dues, giving up any production rights on the film. Ronnie Screwvala then joined the film as a producer.

Sara’s other film, Simmba, will be directed by Rohit Shetty and will star Ranveer Singh in the lead role. A Hindi adaptation of Telugu superhit film, Temper, the film is backed by Karan Johar. Given the Rohit Shetty stamp, it is expected to be an entertainer.
