Ricky Kej's Grammy win should make India proud: Vishal Dadlani

Darpan News Desk IANS, 09 Feb, 2015 02:11 PM
  • Ricky Kej's Grammy win should make India proud: Vishal Dadlani
Indian artist Ricky Kej's Grammy Awards victory should make Indians proud, says musician Vishal Dadlani.

Dadlani, who has given some foot-tapping numbers like "Tu meri" and "Desi girl" along with his music partner Shekhar Ravjiani, took to micro-blogging site Twitter to share his views.

“Composer @rickykej, from Bangalore, has won a Grammy for Best New Age Album for 'Winds Of Samsara'. India should be proud,” he tweeted.

Kej's collaborated album with South African musician Wouter Kellerman "Winds Of Samsara" won the Best New Age Album trophy at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. The awards were announced at a ceremony held at Los Angeles Sunday night.

The website of the album describes the project as a "truly global effort" which draws inspiration from two cultures. The music of the album blends in the creative influences of the cultures to generate a sound of calmness and positivity.

Another Indian artist to shine at the awards this year was Neela Vaswani. She won the trophy in the Best Children's Album category for "I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up For Education And Changed The World (Malala Yousafzai)". Vaswani narrated the audio version of the book.
