Response To Aamir's Casting Tweet Makes Server Crash

IANS, 13 Jul, 2015 12:06 PM
  • Response To Aamir's Casting Tweet Makes Server Crash
Overwhelming response to actor-producer Aamir Khan's tweet regarding a casting call for a new production led to the server of his office to crash. Advait Chandan, who is directing the project, says it's "really exciting".

Aamir had just last week tweeted that his banner is in search of a fresh female face, who can act as well as sing, for their next project.

In less that half an hour after Aamir's tweet, the response was phenomenal and there where more than 3,000 entries. All of these entries were heavy as they all had a video attached. This lead to the crashing of the server, said a source.

Chandan, who will make his directorial debut with the film, said in a statement: "We sat up all night downloading attachments and backing them up so that we could empty the inbox! I still haven't managed to go through all the entries and the casting team is working round the clock to catalogue the submissions.

"We've started calling people for auditions. This is really exciting! Let's hope we find our girl soon."

Chandan previously used to work for Aamir as one of his team members and has also assisted the "PK" actor's wife Kiran Rao in her films.

In his call for new talent, Aamir had tweeted: "Hey guys, need your help to spread the word. Thanks. Love. a."

The complete post about the requirement reads: "Aamir Khan Productions is looking for a girl who can sing, in the age group of 12-17. Record a video of yourself singing a Hindi song of your choice and email it (or a link to the video) to: casting@akpfilms.com.

"Please include a short introduction in Hindi and attach a signed letter of consent from a parent/guardian."

The work on the project has started and is at a very nascent stage.

Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman has also come on board for the music of the film.
