A sessions court here has granted Bollywood playback singer Ankit Tiwari bail in a case in which he is accused of allegedly raping his former girlfriend, said his lawyer.
 
Lawyer Neeraj Gupta told IANS Friday: "Yesterday afternoon (on Thursday), a sessions court granted him bail. We have deposited Rs.15,000 which is the bail bond amount and he will be released by today evening."
 
Mumbai police arrested Ankit May 8 and he was sent to police custody till May 12, while his brother Ankur secured bail in the same case. Later, Ankit was remanded to judicial custody till May 26.
 
The Tiwari brothers have alleged a conspiracy by their professional rivals after Ankit achieved nationwide fame with his popular numbers like "Sun Raha Hai Tu" in the recent blockbuster, "Aashiqui 2" and other songs.
