Ranveer, Deepika Launch First Song Of 'Bajirao Mastani', Gajanana

Darpan News Desk IANS, 15 Sep, 2015 11:14 AM
Actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone on Tuesday launched the first song "Gajanana" from this year's most awaited movie, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus "Bajirai Mastani".

The song, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, was sung by Sukhvinder Singh and choreographed by Vaibhabi Merchant.

Ranveer and Deepika did the 'maha aarti' at the launch.

"During Ganapati Visarjan, I always take part in the Ganapati song and dance. I have got into random processions even after becoming an actor. Vaibhavi calls me 'visarjan specialist'," Ranveer said.

Ranveer and Deepika got delayed in reaching the venue.

They apologised to the audience, as Ranveer said in a cheerful mood: "I was told that people have been waiting since 9 a.m. for us. But Deepika is so beautiful I would wait a lifetime for her."

In reply, Deepika recalled that Bhansali used to get upset when the actors came late to the film set.

Though there is a rumour that "Bajirao Mastani" will clash at the box office with Shah Rukh Khan's "Dilwale", Ranveer and Deepika said theyr were not disturbed.

The "Piku" star said: "I don't understand the business perspective. I think there is a place for both films. Our job is to work just as an actor not to get into all this."

Ranveer's comment was shorter and crisp: "I am an actor and can understand only acting. Can't say anything on clash."

"Bajirao Mastani" narrates the story of Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao I, and his second wife Mastani.

Ranveer and Deepika Padukone portray the titular protagonists, while Priyanka Chopra plays Bajirao's first wife. The film is scheduled to release on December 18.
