Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's maternal grandmother died here on Friday.
 
A statement issued on behalf of Priyanka stated that the actress's grandmother who was 94, passed away in her sleep.
 
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Madhu Jyotsna Akhouri, our beloved mother and grandmother. Freedom fighter, social activist, MLA, amongst other things. She was an amazing woman who lived a full life, filled with purpose and love. 
 
She left us in her sleep, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She will always be in our hearts. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday,” Priyanka said in a statement.
 
 
 
 
The actress had posted the childhood image back then with caption: “Happy 94th birthday, Nani. So happy to be home for it. Found this old picture. Don’t know why we all look so pissed off. But I think my mom was forcing us to take the picture.
