Priyanka Chopra Missed The Indian Red Carpet

Darpan News Desk IANS, 20 Dec, 2016 11:22 AM
Actress Priyanka Chopra, who is back in Mumbai, says she missed walking the Indian red carpets while shooting overseas for her projects.

The actress, who features in American TV series "Quantico" and was occupied with the shoot of her debut Hollywood film "Baywatch", was seen here at the red carpet of the Sansui Stardust Awards 2016 on Monday night.

Priyanka said here: "I landed yesterday (Sunday). Today, I have shot for 'Koffee with Karan', and now I am here at Stardust Awards. I had to come here because Parineeti Chopra is giving a surprise tribute to me, so I wanted to come and see that."

"And I haven't done an Indian red carpet for the longest time. I was really excited to wear Indian outfits and walk the red carpet."

Priyanka was recently appointed the Unicef's global Goodwill Ambassador.

"We have made a global plan in which India is a big part," added Priyanka, who said that in the New Year she will be doing two big Indian films.

"I am doing two films next year, between 'Quantico' season 2 and 3. So, I am here to decide which ones I will be doing. By January, I will decide," Priyanka said.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA NAMED ASSAM TOURISM BRAND AMBASSADOR

After being turned down by cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar, Assam government on Monday said Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra would be the brand ambassador of the state's tourism for two years.

"We approached Sachin Tendulkar, but he refused. After that, we went to 4-5 more celebrities. Finally, we zeroed in on Priyanka Chopra," Assam Tourism Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said at a press conference here.

He, however, did not reveal the reasons for the Bharat Ratna awardee declining the state's proposal.

Mr Sarma said that the government had already signed a two-year agreement with Ms Chopra "free of cost".

"The agreement does not have any cost. We'll only have to pay her during shooting and also for print advertisements as she will do so by leaving aside other work," he said.

For her first appearance for the state, Ms Chopra will be coming to Guwahati on December 24 to take part at the International Tour Operators Conclave, Mr Sarma said.

"With her, we'll go global with countries like the US, the UK, Japan and Germany among others. We'll hold promotional activities there."

"As she is the best, her association will definitely help Assam in attracting more national as well as global tourists," the minister said.
