Pratyusha Banerjee Suicide Case: Did Boyfriend Rahul Raj Forced Her Into Prostitution?

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Nov, 2016 01:22 PM
  • Pratyusha Banerjee Suicide Case: Did Boyfriend Rahul Raj Forced Her Into Prostitution?
Her alleged suicide in April this year stunned the city. Now, more details regarding what could be Pratyusha Banerjee's last conversation with her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh have just emerged.

As the transcript of the last phone call between Pratyusha Banerjee and Rahul Raj Singh does the rounds, some shocking details are being revealed.

In the about three-minute long conversation she had with Singh, Banerjee, who catapulted to fame with her portrayal of Anandi in the television serial Balika Vadhu, is heard saying, ""B******d man.. I f**k so hard.. In my life i f**k so hard... for everything... I had not come here to sell myself... I had come here to act... to work. And where are you putting me today.. Rahul, you have no idea how bad I am feeling right now."

The actor repeatedly says that she "is over" and she would end her life. While Rahul tells her that he would soon come to talk to her, Pratyusha maintains that he wouldn't be able to see her by the time he comes. “Half an hour…I wouldn’t be alive after 10 minutes," she tells him.

Pratyusha Banerjee mentions the word 'prostitute' and in her next line and says, "I have kids to take care with my aunts and I'm just not like that." She even says that she was being called characterless despite not being so and adds that she has been getting death threats for her and her parents. Further in the conversation, Pratyusha says she did not come to Mumbai to sell herself, she came to act.

This is what Pratyusha told Rahul, "I didn't come here to sell myself, I came her to work. Where are you putting me today? You have no clue how bad I am feeling right now."

There was speculation that she was pregnant at the time of suicide and the Pratyusha and Raj's conversation seems to fuel the rumour as the transcript shows actress telling him, "Child... child... child... No child will be born now!"

The conversation seemingly confirms Rahul's earlier claims that Pratyusha and her family did not share a warm relationship. When Pratyusha mentions about "bad things" being said about her, Rahul tells her to laugh over those things. She retorts, "They are my parents." Both of them then abuse Pratyusha's father and the actor says, "I am sure I am not his blood. That's why he abuses me so much."

Banerjee, 24, ended her life by hanging herself at her 1000-sq ft apartment in Goregaon and Singh, who is currently out on bail, is accused of abetting her suicide. Singh, however, said that the transcripts do not reveal anything that is not known.

Singh found Banerjee hanging from a ceiling fan at aroud 4pm on April 1 this year, and rushed herto the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, in Andheri.

He was accompanied by a cook, who worked in one of the adjacent apartments. He informed Banerjee's parents, who live in Jharkhand, about the tragedy an hour after he found her dead. On April 5, besides being booked for the abetment of her suicide, Singh was also charged with criminal intimidation.
