Political backdrop makes story larger than life: Kabir Khan

Darpan News Desk, 15 Jul, 2015 12:03 PM
  • Political backdrop makes story larger than life: Kabir Khan
Director Kabir Khan, who is awaiting the release of his forthcoming Salman Khan-starrer “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, says a political backdrop in the story makes the films larger than life.

“What I really do in my films, is that I do a human story but I try and put a real political backdrop to my films because it makes the storytelling larger than life. Like it could be about a little girl lost in Mumbai and we're trying to find her a house, but the moment you put the backdrop of India-Pakistan, the border, the hostility, it just becomes larger than life.

“And let’s face it, our political situation is dominated by India-Pakistan relationship, so that’s how it keeps finding its way into my films,” Kabir, who has directed films like “Kabul Express” and “Ek Tha Tiger”, told reporters at a promotional event here.

The film’s star cast including Salman, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kareena Kapoor Khan, singers Adnan Sami, Mika Singh and Jubin Nautiyal and Salman Khan Films CEO Amar Butala were also present at the event.

“Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, which will hit the screens on Friday, has been extensively shot in Mandawa, Kashmir and Delhi.

The film narrates the story of a man out on a journey from India to Pakistan in his endeavour to take a dumb and mute young girl back to her home across the border. Along with action, music and dance, the high point of the film is its emotional factor.
