People In Power Shouldn't 'Waste Their Time' On Me: Sunny Leone

Darpan News Desk IANS, 04 Sep, 2015 12:02 PM
  • People In Power Shouldn't 'Waste Their Time' On Me: Sunny Leone
Sunny Leone has hit back at CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan for saying that a condom advertisement featuring the actress would lead to an increase in rape cases in the country. Sunny has urged “people of power” to focus on helping those in need instead.

“Sad when people of power waste their time and energy on me, instead of focusing on helping those in need!!! #SHAME #EPICFAIL,” Sunny, a former adult film star, wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

Anjan, national secretary of the Communist Party of India, said while addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur that a condom advertisement featuring the “Jism 2” star will be the cause for more rapes in the country.

Anjan claimed that Sunny's condom advertisement will trigger the tendency among men to commit rapes and that it was developing sexuality and ruining sensibilities.

Known for doing explicit scenes in Bollywood films, Sunny will be next seen in "Mastizaade".

POLITICIANS' COMMENTS ON SUNNY LEONE AD SILLY, SAYS SHILPA

Actress Shilpa Shetty came out in support of actress Sunny Leone by terming the recent controversy on her condom advertisement as "silly comments by a fringe".

"It's just some of the fringe who thinks like that. I don't think everybody thinks like that, it's very silly. These things happen everywhere. There are controversies everywhere and this is a really silly thing that you're giving too much attention to," Shilpa told media persons at the Indian Merchant Chamber's Ladies Wing Exhibition 2015 when asked about the controversy.

"I just think that all five fingers can't be like each other. You got to have all kinds that make the world. Just concentrate on the positives. I think India is a great country; I love it and feel very proud to be Indian, to represent my country anywhere in the world."

Communist Party of India's national secretary (CPI) Atul Kumar Anjan claimed that Sunny's condom advertisement will trigger the tendency among men to commit rapes and that it was developing sexuality and ruining sensibilities. Sunny is a former pornstar who is a full-fledged actress today, famous for her explicit scenes in films.

Shilpa has had her share of controversies including the one on the popular reality show "Big Brother" and the Richard Gere kissing incident.

Regarding the association of controversies with celebrities, she said: "Celebrities are always sitting ducks. So we just accept it. I've learnt to live by the philosophy that when you're a celebrity, you shouldn't complain and you shouldn't explain. That's it."
