'Peepli Live' Co-director's Rape Case Final Arguments Next Week

Darpan News Desk IANS, 07 Jan, 2016 12:04 PM
A court here on Thursday fixed January 14 for commencing final arguments in a rape case involving "Peepli Live" co-director Mahmood Farooqui.

Additional Sessions Judge Sanjiv Jain, who was scheduled to begin the final arguments on Thursday, adjourned the hearing for January 14 after the public prosecutor informed the court that he was not prepared to advance the arguments and sought time.

Delhi Police have accused Farooqui of raping a 35-year-old American woman who was in India to do research for her doctoral thesis from Columbia University.

Farooqui has denied the allegations, saying he was falsely implicated in the case.
