Parched' Expression Of What Every Woman Wants To Say: Surveen Chawla

IANS, 09 Sep, 2015 10:31 AM
Actress Surveen Chawla, who essays a nautch girl in “Parched” -- ready for its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) -- says the film is an expression of what every woman wants to say.

The Leena Yadav directorial is set in the heart of the parched rural landscape of Gujarat. It traces the bitter-sweet tale of four ordinary women Rani, Lajjo, Bijli and Janaki.

"The film is one of the most beautiful journeys I've had in so many years of my work, transforming me to a great degree. 'Parched' is an expression of what every woman wants to say. I play a nautch dancer in the film. It's bold superficially, but with a lot of depth,” Surveen said in a statement.

“It's a fantastic film and I cannot wait for its release," she added.

The movie also stars Tannishtha Chatterjee, Radhika Apte and Lehar Khan in other key roles.

"We have had the most brilliant experiences," added Surveen, who worked on the small screen before featuring in films like "Ugly" and "Hate Story 2". She last featured in the “Welcome Back” song “Tutti bole wedding di”.

TIFF begins on Thursday and will conclude on September 20.
