Over Rs.1 crore stolen from Satish Kaushik's residence

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 20 May, 2014 01:00 PM
  • Over Rs.1 crore stolen from Satish Kaushik's residence
Cash amounting to Rs.1.2 crore was stolen from Satish Kaushik's residence here, the actor-filmmaker has said in a complaint to the police.

Kaushik lodged the complaint late Sunday at the Versova Police Station here.

An official from the station told IANS: "Last night (Sunday night) at around 8:30 p.m., Satish and his wife lodged a complaint. Around Rs.1.2 crore cash has been stolen from his residence. The investigation is going on right now."

Kaushik had received the cash May 16 for his creative work, and he planned to deposit the sum at a bank Monday. He had briefly left it in his living room when it was stolen, said a source close to him.

The source also said that they suspect Sajan Kumar, a house help, to have picked up the bag containing the cash and fled the house in the afternoon when Kaushik's wife went to the restroom.

Sajan Kumar is absconding, according to the source.

Kaushik remained unavailable for comment.
