No Patronage In Sports Like Boxing: Anurag Kashyap

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 Dec, 2017 11:22 AM
  • No Patronage In Sports Like Boxing: Anurag Kashyap
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who has attempted to address the issue of discouragement in a sport like boxing in his upcoming film "Mukkabaaz", says the driving force of his film came from a very honest space of reality.

"In our country, there is no patronage in many sports, especially individual sports like boxing," Anurag said here.

"Even I played till university level. My brother is a very good player, my father worked as a coach, mentored many talents. But in my younger days, there was no encouragement to pursue the sport as a career. So all the champions we see in our country are driven by their individual passion, our system (referring government and administration) does not support it.

"This is the only country where in a tournament, people from the administration travel by business class and the sportsmen travel by economy," he said.

"Mukkabaaz" is releasing on January 12.
