New Film Memorabilia On Rajesh Khanna's Third Death Anniversary

  • New Film Memorabilia On Rajesh Khanna's Third Death Anniversary
Three years after Bollywood superstar Rajesh Khanna's death from a liver infection, a new collection of memorabilia on his films will be displayed by museum curator and philanthropist Suman Batra at the Indian Habitat Centre here on Saturday.

"Rajesh Khanna cinema memorabilia collection is any collectors' delight. Not just because he was a superstar and gave iconic hits, but because there is so much nostalgia associated with the artwork of the publicity material of his films.

Films like 'Aradhana' 'Anand', 'Kati Patang', 'Daag', 'Doli', 'Do Raaste', 'Namak Haram' and 'Bawarchi' all invoke powerful memories of the era," Batra told IANS.

"Sadly, the art of poster making has died with the advent of digital technology," he added.

Referred as the "first superstar" and the "original superstar" of Indian cinema, Rajesh Khanna starred in 15 consecutive solo hit films in the period 1969 to 1971.

Fondly known as 'Kaka' by his fans, Rajesh Khanna married Dimple Kapadia in 1973. They separated in 1984.

After hits like "Aaradhana" and "Amar Prem", the actor was out of the limelight for many years.

The late superstar's last film "Riyasat" was released on his first death anniversary.
