The series is based on Vikram Chandra's 2006 thriller novel by the same name. It revolves around the lives of Mumbai city cop Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and crime lord Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).
On a related note, the series landed in a soup after a plea filed in the Delhi High Court seeking deletion of a particular part of the episode containing derogatory remarks against former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
The Netflix original is jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment and Phantom films.
