Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 re-crowned after having crown taken away from Mrs.World on stage

  • Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 re-crowned after having crown taken away from Mrs.World on stage

A news story that has been making waves regarding Sri Lankan beauty pageant queen Pushpika De Silva. De Silva was stripped of her crown earlier and then re-crowned on Tuesday. It is not what one might be thinking -that it is an unfortunate mix up as was in Steve Harvey's case.

The pageant became controversial when Mrs. World Caroline Jurie took the crown off De Silva's head claiming she doesn't meet the criteria to win the Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 title as she was divorced.

At the beauty contest, it took Jurie several moments to remove the crown from De Silva's head and the crown was given to the runner-up. De Silva felt very humiliated and rushed off stage with tears in her eyes.

After a lot of discussion pageant officials concluded that there was no legal proof of her marital status as divorced and that De Silva has been re-crowned.

There was no comment from Mrs. World Caroline Jurie who removed the crown from De Silva's head.
