Mother Teresa Was Inspiration Behind 'Slum Stars': Bappi Lahiri

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Dec, 2015 12:05 PM
  • Mother Teresa Was Inspiration Behind 'Slum Stars': Bappi Lahiri
Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri, whose short film "Slum Stars" won an award at the International Film and Entertainment Festival Australia, on Monday said Mother Teresa inspired him to do his bit for children in slums.

"Long time back, when I had come for a trip to Kolkata, the noble lady told me to work for those poor kids. This inspired me to do the film," said the disco king.

"Slum Stars" is a movement by the veteran musician to give a platform to gifted artistes from the slums of Mumbai.

To energise the youngsters, Lahiri created a short film on the issue.

"I did the film with some kids from slum areas in Mumbai. I am happy it has been very well taken internationally."

The film received the best short film award at the festival in Sydney earlier this month.
