Monica Dogra Glad To Be Part Of 'Woman'

    Monica Dogra has become part of foreign series titled “Woman” which talks about how violence against women drives global instability. And the singer-actress says she is honoured to be part of a series which “focuses on the extreme marginalisation of women around the world”.
     
    Noted international feminist Gloria Steinem is the executive producer and host of "Woman". 
     
    “I'm doing this brilliant docu-series called 'Woman'. The series airs on VICELAND, a new channel introduced in the US. I play the role of a correspondent in 'Woman', which focuses on the extreme marginalisation of women around the world,” Monica said in a statement. 
     
    She added: “I shot for it in northern BC in Canada about six months ago. We covered the rising issue of missing and murdered women on Highway 16, popularly known as 'The Highway of Tears. Growing up in the US, I was completely ignorant to the issues happening in a neighbouring country. But now that I know about it, it's an honour to be a part of a series such as 'Woman'.” 
     
    Premiering on May 10, the weekly series tells stories of women and men on the front lines of fighting gender-based violence. There is also a special episode produced by Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy on the rise of extremism in Pakistan.
