Mika 'Grateful' About Helping Sarabjit Singh's Family

  • Mika 'Grateful' About Helping Sarabjit Singh's Family
Bollywood singer Mika Singh, who has promised Sarabjit Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur that he would fully bear the expenses of the late Indian farmer's younger daughter's wedding, says he will be “grateful” to help them in any way.

Mika made the promise on the set of singing reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa”, where he is seen as a mentor.

Dalbir appeared on the show to promote forthcoming film “Sarbjit”, a biopic on her late brother, who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan. He was attacked by inmates at a Lahore prison and succumbed to injuries in April 2013.

Dalbir was joined on the set of "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" by "Sarbjit" director Omung Kumar and actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda.

“Yes, I have promised to bear the entire expenses of Sarbjit’s daughter’s (Poonam) wedding. I will be grateful if I can be of any help to them. I’ve witnessed it all and I know how the brave Dalbir Kaur ran from pillar to post to prove her brother's innocence. This is a salute to her immovable spirit,” Mika said in a statement.

On the Zee TV show, Dalbir mentioned how in the early stages of her struggle, she met Mika’s elder brother Shamsher Singh, who is also a jury member on the show, and how he helped her during her struggle.

To salute her spirit, Mika presented her with a khanda (the military emblem of the Sikhs), worth Rs.25 lakh.

The episode of “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” featuring the “Sarbjit” stars will be aired on Saturday.
