Mia Farrow's Son, Adopted From Kolkata, Found Dead

IANS, 22 Sep, 2016 01:26 PM
American actress Mia Farrows adopted son Thaddeus, whom she had adopted from an Indian orphanage in 1994 shortly after her divorce from Woody Allen, has reportedly died in a car accident in Connecticut. He was 27.

The accident happened on Wednesday and police were investigating the fatal crash, reported Fox News.

The Hartford Courant, a news platform, reported that state troops responded to the scene and found Thaddeus critically injured in his car on Route 67 at around 12.45 p.m. Thaddeus was taken to the Danbury Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 2.30 p.m.

The details around the accident haven't been released. Police said there "was no criminal aspect" to Thaddeus's death. Law enforcement officials confirmed to the paper that it was the son of Mia -- known for "John and Mary" and "The Great Gatsby" -- who had died.

She is said to have 11 living children - four biological and seven adopted.

Thaddeus's reported death would be the third adopted child she has lost -- Tam died from heart failure in 2000 and Lark Previn died in 2008. She adopted Thaddeus from an orphanage in Kolkata, and he was a paraplegic due to polio.

Thaddeus had spoken about being adopted by Mia in a 2013 interview with Vanity Fair.

"It was scary to be brought to a world of people whose language I did not understand, with different skin colours," he had said, and added: "The fact that everyone loved me was a new experience, overwhelming at first."

The office of the Chief Medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of his death.
