'Masaan' Will Always Be A Special Film For Me: Richa Chadha

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Jul, 2016 11:49 AM
Actress Richa Chadha says "Masaan" will always be special to her, as she evolved as a person with the movie.

"'Masaan' will always be a special film for me. It changed me as a person, and gave me a circle of friends that I not only adore but respect too," Richa said in a statement.

Produced by Drishyam Films, Phantom Films, Macassar Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, "Masaan" follows the stories of four people from a small town -- Varanasi -- and how they fit into moralities, and how pre-set notions of society change their life. The film also touches upon issues like caste stereotypes and premarital sex.

Richa is seen as Devi - a small-town girl fighting taboos around sex in "Masaan".

The film bagged two awards at the prestigious 68th Cannes International Film Festival. "Masaan" stars Sanjay Mishra, Vicky Kaushal, Richa Chadha, Pankaj Tripathi, Nikhil Sahni and Satya Kam among others.

The actress says she is glad she did the movie as "it also made me witness the moment of a lifetime, where we experienced a five-minute long standing ovation" at the Cannes Film Festival.
