Malaika Arora Khan hopes to open a restaurant 'someday'

Darpan News Desk IANS, 03 Dec, 2015 02:03 PM
Malaika Arora Khan started her journey in showbiz as a model and went on to become an actress, host and a producer. But for her, there are still miles to go as she wants to open a restaurant with a blend of fashion with food.

“I don’t think I am closer to my dream. Every day I am getting closer to my dreams but I don’t think I am there yet. There is lots more I want to achieve, I want to open my restaurant someday,” Malaika said in a statement.

“I am very passionate about food. I want to bring fashion and food together because at the end of the day, they go hand-in-hand,” she added.

Malaika shared her aspirations while talking to host Pria Kataaria Puri on a chat show “Born Stylish”. The show is aired on Colors Infinity and Vh1 channel and the episode will beam on Saturday.

She has danced to the beats of popular item numbers like “Munni badnam hui”, “Anarkali disco chali” and “Hoth rasiley” and is known for her sultry avatar be it on-screen or off-screen.

Malaika, who is married to Arbaaz Khan, son of veteran writer Salim Khan, asserts that her in-laws have never objected to her work and have stood by her throughout.

“My in-laws are not the type to impose anything on anybody. They don’t do it on their kids, I don’t think they would do it on their kid’s respective spouses. In fact, they have always been very encouraging; everytime I would do a song, my mother-in-law and my father-in-law say, ‘beta you are looking very nice, you’ve danced so well’. So its never been a point of concern or issue,” she said.

The mother of one also shared that she is not coy when it comes to fashion.

“I am not shy; if I have a plunging neckline or a tiny hemline, I am not a prude. If I think I can carry it off or if I think I look good in it, then so be it,” the actress said.

Malaika did not only shower words of praise for her in-laws, but appreciated her husband Arbaaz for being on her side during “good or bad” times.

“So much has happened in our lives and I have always maintained that whatever good or bad has happened, he has always been my support," she said.

"I don’t think I could have blossomed or flourished the way I am hadn’t it been for him because, lets face it, in today’s male chauvinistic society we live in, it's really hard to come by so he never stopped me.

“He let me be, he literally gave me those wings where he said, 'No, this is your life, you are young, you want to work, you want to explore the world, want to see what its all about’. So he just let me be," she added.

Meanwhile, the couple will be entering the small screen world to show their strength and compatibility as hosts of reality TV show “Power Couple”.
