Madhur Bhandarkar honoured at film festival in Pakistan

    Indian filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar was felicitated with the Memorial Award at the Rafi Peer International Film Festival 2015 by Pakistani actress Zeba.
     
    The National Award-winning filmmaker, best known for his films like “Chandni Bar”, “Page 3”, “Traffic Signal” and “Fashion”, took to Twitter on Friday to share photographs of his felicitation.
     
    In one image, Bhandarkar can be seen receiving the award from Zeba.
     
    “Feeling honoured to receive the #rafipeer Memorial Award from veteran #Pakistani actress Zeba ji. #Lahore,” the “Heroine” director captioned the image.
     
    He also shared the photograph of his trophy.
     
    The 47-year-old is said to have received the award for his immense contribution in highlighting social issues in a sensitive manner and for portrayal of strong female protagonists in his films.
     
    The three-day festival kicked off on Thursday, in which foreign films, especially Bhandarkar’s “Chandni Bar”, came in for appreciation from the audience. 
     
    Apart from Bhandarkar, veteran actor Om Puri was also present at the gala to attend the screening of his film “My Son the Fanatic”.
     
    The festival will end on Saturday.
