Madhavan, Hirani Celebrate Pongal Together

Darpan News Desk IANS, 14 Jan, 2016 10:49 AM
Actor R. Madhavan celebrated Pongal festival with the team of his forthcoming film “Saala Khadoos”.

Madhavan decided to begin the auspicious day by taking his co-star Ritika Singh and the one of the film's producers Rajkumar Hirani for a traditional Pongal breakfast at a suburban South Indian restaurant here.

“Maddy (Madhavan) had invited me and Ritika for breakfast. Early this morning (Thursday), he arrived at my residence with a veshti (lungi) and he insisted that I dress up in the traditional attire. Initially, I was hesitant. But later, I felt very nice and comfortable in it,” Hirani, who celebrated the festival for the first time, said in a statement.

Ritika too was dressed in a sari.

The Pongal feast included sweet pongal, vegetable pongal, pongal upma, idli, mendu wada, dosa and pineapple seera.

Talking about the festival, Madhavan said: "Wish you all a very very Happy Pongal. On this day, we thank Lord Surya for the good yield. We draw rangoli, sing songs and prepare pongal. The pongal is made from the crops that we have grown, and then thank the sun for giving us such good pongal."

The sports drama film, which has been written and directed by Sudha Kongara, is slated to release on January 29.
