Lata writes to Modi, sends best wishes

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 26 May, 2014 03:08 PM
  • Lata writes to Modi, sends best wishes
Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has sent in a handwritten letter to Narendra Modi apologising for not being able to make it to his oath taking ceremony as India's 14th prime minister Monday. She has wished him the best.

Thanking her, Modi took to Twitter to post a snapshot of the letter, and captioned it: "Thank you Lata Didi. As always, your greetings and best wishes inspire me deeply."

Lata, 84, said in her letter that even though she received Modi's personal invitation to attend the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan here, her health did not permit her to travel.

The letter is neatly penned in Devanagari script, and the singer has even mentioned that on the auspicious occasion, she has sent an idol of lord Ganesh as gift for Modi.
