On Mohammed Rafi's 91st birth anniversary on Thursday, melody queen Lata Mangeshkar has paid tribute to the late legendary playback singer by calling him a "musical magician".
 
The 85-year-old singer paid tribute to Rafi, with whom she has sung duets like "Teri bindiya re", "Jo wada kiya woh" and "Haye re haye", posted on Twitter: "Namaskar. Aaj suron ke jaadugar Rafi sahab ki jayanti hai. Na aisa gayak hua aur na hoga. Aise mahan kalakar ko main pranam karti hun. Bejod sangeetkar Roshanlal ji ke sangeet mein Rafi sahab ka gaya hua mera ek pasandida geet aap sabke liye.
 
(Today is the birthday of musical genius Rafi sahab. Neither was there a singer like him, nor there ever will be. I would like to pay tribute to a great artist like him. Sharing a favourite song of mine sung by Rafi Sahab with music by Roshanlal ji.”." 
 
Along with the tweet, Lata also shared a link of the song "Jo baat tujh mein hai teri tasveer me nahi".
 
Rafi, who died on July 31, 1980, is known for famous songs like "Chaudhvin ka chand ho", "Kya hua tera wada", "Aadmi musaafir hai" and "Maine poocha chand se".
