Kamal Haasan's apparent jibe at Rajinikanth

Darpan News Desk IANS, 02 Oct, 2017 02:23 PM
In what could be seen as a veiled jibe at Superstar Rajinikanth for his remarks that name and fame alone would not suffice for success in politics, thespian Kamal Haasan on Monday took to the social media to air his views.

In a tweet that was seemingly directed at Rajinikanth, Kamal said, "First they ignore you then they laugh at you then they fight you and then you win- Gandhi ji His words impart strength we need now."

He was apparently reacting to Rajini's remarks at the Sivaji Ganesan memorial unveiling event on Sunday that name and fame alone would not suffice for political success.

"There is something more needed to be successful in politics, and only the public knows what it is. Certainly I don't know that. I think Kamal Haasan knows it. He would have told me if i asked him two months ago . Now if i ask him, he will say come with me than I may tell you," Rajini had said in a lighter vein.

Both the stars are widely tipped to take a plunge into politics but they have not as yet disclosed their plans.

Kamal had been hinting about his political entry at every platform, but he chose to remain silent on Sunday and did not react to Rajini's remarks.

Rajinikanth also cited late actor Sivaji Ganesan and said he could not succeed in politics despite being immensely popular.

Referring to the loss suffered by the late actor after forming a political party, Rajini said "Sivaji (Ganesan) has left a lesson not just in cinema but also in politics."

"He started his own political party, fought and lost (elections) from his own constituency. This was not an insult to him, but the people of that constituency", Rajini said.
