As Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was given interim bail on Wednesday after being sentenced to five years in jail for the 2002 hit-and-run case, actress and social activist Gul Panag said she was "confident" that the actor will further be granted bail on Friday and believes that "justice will be upheld".
"It's a very difficult time for his family but we live in a country where as responsible citizens we must obey the law of the land," Gul, who was here on Wednesday to promote a jewellery brand, told IANS.
"... his (Salman's) team will definitely appeal in a higher court and I'm confident that justice will be upheld," the 36-year-old added.
The two have worked together in 2008 film "Hello".
Salman was granted two days interim bail on medical grounds by the Bombay High Court after his defence team led by Supreme Court counsel Harish Salve mentioned the matter before Justice A.M. Thipsay.
Salve cited medical reasons for seeking bail and also argued that a person could not be arrested on the basis of a summarised court order.
The hearing on the bail application will now be taken up on Friday morning.
Actor Tusshar Kapoor has had a "lovely" experience working with Sunny Leone in "Mastizaade". In fact, he feels she's the top actress in the Hindi film industry today.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has hailed Aamir Khan-starrer "PK" as a clever film by "bravest filmmaker" Rajkumar Hirani, who has handled an issue as sensitive as religion with a dash of humour.
Actor Arjun Kapoor, who is busy promoting his forthcoming action thriller “Tevar”, says he has been ignorant about his health for a long time and will take more care in the New Year.
Sanjay Dutt, who is out from jail on a 14-day furlough, saw his latest release "PK" at a special screening and loved it. Happy about its success, he says none other than the trio Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Aamir could have made a film as "honest" as this.
Richa Chadha, known for playing a brave and bold girl on the big screen, recently gave an earful to two men who misbehaved with her. The actress says all women must express themselves in such situations.
Christmas has proved to be a lucky time for Aamir Khan. Last year, he struck gold at the box office with "Dhoom: 3", and this time the superstar's latest offering “PK” has zoomed past the action adventure's first week collections.
