'Jai Gangaajal' Mints Rs.5.5 Crore On Opening Day

    Prakash Jha's “Jai Gangaajal”, which stars actress Priyanka Chopra as a police officer, has collected Rs.5.5 crore pan-India on its opening day.
     
    According to the makers of the film, “Jai Gangaajal”, which released on Friday, had a production cost of Rs.18 crore.
     
    On the promotion front, the makers disclosed that a sum of Rs.7 crore was spent on the film's promotion and advertising.
     
    The film is a sequel of the 2003 crime film “Gangaajal”, and also features actors Manav Kaul, Rahul Bhat and Queen Harish with Jha himself appearing in a supporting role.
     
    On Thursday, Jha held a special screening of “Jai Gangaajal” for some IPS officers, considering Priyanka's IPS officer role in the film, while the actress promoted the film through Skype, with some publications.
     
    The film was co-produced by Prakash Jha Productions and Play Entertainment.
