I've Always Been Scared Of Reality TV: Neha Dhupia

Darpan News Desk IANS, 16 Feb, 2016 01:06 PM
  • I've Always Been Scared Of Reality TV: Neha Dhupia
Actress Neha Dhupia, who is stepping into the non-fiction space on TV through forthcoming show “MTV Roadies X4”, says that while she was “scared” of being part of reality projects, she joined the stunt reality show to shed her “inhibitions”.

“I've always been scared of reality television. But I feel you have to shed all your inhibitions, so I took part in this show,” Neha told IANS here.

“I was scared of being emotionally exposed as a person. But on a show like 'Roadies', I feel even if I am getting emotional, it is just to see my gang do well and win the show and not because of any other reason,” added the former Miss India.

Neha, who has replaced actress Esha Deol in the show, will be seen alongside actors Rannvijay Singha and Karan Kundra, and “Bigg Boss Nau” winner Prince Narula as judges.

“Whether it is Prince, Karan or Rannvijay, all the three guys are fantastic. They know the game and might be doing a bit better than me, but I will cope up. We haven't travelled much so far, so I'm getting a little scared. The distances are long and wide,” she said.

"Roadies" is a format that has become popular over the years, and has achieved a cult status of sorts among youths who are keen on adventure. After multiple auditions in various cities across India, shortlisted candidates compete with one another in tough tasks to take home the winner's title.

This year, the show is travelling from Darjeeling to Bhutan.

Neha, who started her career in showbiz through 1999 TV serial “Rajdhani”, is best known for her roles in films like “Julie”, “Kyaa Kool Hai Hum”, “Delhii Heights”, “Paying Guests” and “Phas Gaye Re Obama”.

Asked why she chose “MTV Roadies X4” to enter reality television even when her name had earlier been attached to many other non-fiction shows, Neha said: “The following of this show is just so ridiculously huge that I was like if I need to do something that's on reality television and something where I can genuinely be myself, a place where people don't play games, this is the show I want. I'm so glad that I said 'yes' to it."

What will be her style statement on “MTV Roadies X4”?

“There will be a lot of tasks where we have to take part in. My style statement on the show will be to keep it more comfortable and warm yet keep it a little stylish - as the youth always follows the people who are stylish,” Neha said.

On the film front, Neha has projects like “Santa Banta” and “Moh Maya Money” in her kitty.
