It Is Strange, Surreal: Athiya Shetty On Being Bollywood's Fashionista

Darpan News Desk IANS, 20 Mar, 2016 03:20 PM
She is just one film old, but is already making waves in the tinsel town for her acting skills as well as fashion and style quotient. Actress Athiya Shetty says the tag of Bollywood's fashionista comes with a “strange and surreal feeling”.

Athiya, who is daughter of Suniel Shetty, added that she has never made an attempt to “be that person”.

When IANS asked her about how it feels to be known as one of the fashionable actresses from the younger brigade, she said: “It has always been a strange and surreal feeling because I have never made an effort to try and be that person."

"I think I have to obviously thank my stylist (Ami Patel), who has most importantly given me my personality through my dressing and I think that is what really important.”

Sharing her fashion fundas, Athiya said the key to being stylish is to be comfortable with "whatever you are wearing".

"You have to be yourself, you have to be comfortable in your own skin and in your body type and kind of own whatever you are wearing no matter what it is," she added.

Athiya, who is the brand ambassador of Maybelline New York, turned muse for designer Namrata Joshipura for the beauty brand's show at the fourth day of Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Autumn-Winter 2016 on Saturday here. The five-day fashion gala is taking place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.

The actress, who stepped into showbiz alongside actor Aditya Pancholi's son Sooraj in superstar Salman Khan's co-production venture "Her" last year, has walked the ramp for several fashion shows, but Athiya asserts that she is "always nervous before walking on the ramp".

"I am thinking about thousand things but I think once you get on the ramp and you see the people cheering for you, you automatically get a sense of energy in front of the live audience," she shared.

Athiya had a pre-show shoot in the national capital, and she says that it was a nice experience.

"I have been to Delhi but I have never seen all the locations in Delhi. So, for me it was a very nice experience. I miss greenery and space of Delhi when in Mumbai," she said.

On the filmy front, the actress says she will make an announcement about her projects soon.
