Irshad Kamil's Book Of Poems Released By Ranbir, Imtiaz

  • Irshad Kamil's Book Of Poems Released By Ranbir, Imtiaz
Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali Friday released a book of poetry “Ek Maheena Nazmon Ka” written by their friend, lyricist Irshad Kamil.

The audience at the event, organised by Young FICCI Ladies Organisation, gave a rousing welcome to Ranbir, who was accompanied by his friends on the stage.

Published by Vani Prakashan, the book of poems is a compilation of 31 'nazms', one for every day of the month with its verses soaked in deep thoughts.

Described as a book full of romance and love's long biography, Irshad has woven a canvas of emotions while keeping reality in check.

The Bollywood stars not only launched the book, but also recited poems at the event. First one to read a poem was Ranbir, who looked suave in black denims teamed up with a black blazer. He recited “Chirag”.

“It's an honour and privilege for me to be in front of you guys and to release Irshad bhai's book. He is somebody I have found friendship with. I would also like to apologise before reading for any errors and would like to request you to not judge his book on mistakes done by me,” said Ranbir.

He summed up the poem with a line “Irshad bhai aap duniya ke chirag hai”.

Next was Imtiaz, who read “Nimmo”. He supported his friend with whom he has collaborated in all his movies like “Rockstar” and “Love Aaj Kal”, and said that he is honoured to be a part of his journey.

“I used to think how to express a lot of things in cinema world as cinema is very realistic. But poetry bridges the gap and takes you to a different world. Irshad has the quality of taking poetry to different level while talking about normal life through his poems,” Imtiaz said.

After the success of “Rockstar”, the trio is hoping to recreate the magic on the big screen with their next project “Tamasha”.

“He is the only person, who has been a part of all my films. I look forward to learning new things together and creating good poetry and cinema for you” Imtiaz added.

Floored by the appreciation and love, Irshad thanked his friends for coming out to support him. The 43-year-old lyricist recited two poems from his book with a humbling smile.

“I would like to thank everyone for showering their love on me and my books. These nazams are very delicate. They reflect a page from your life and you feel that you have revisited a period of life or memory, which may have been faded away with time,” he said.

The book was launched by celebrities Deepti Naval, Farah Khan, Irrfan Khan and Sonam Kapoor Feb 3 in Mumbai.
