Irrfan Khan bats for children's education

Darpan News Desk IANS, 30 Apr, 2015 12:53 PM
  • Irrfan Khan bats for children's education
Actor Irrfan Khan joined hands with consumer products company Procter & Gamble (P&G) to visit one of their schools in the national capital where he shared some of his childhood memories with children and emphasised on the importance of education for a better future.

"I'm extremely thrilled to be present at the P&G Shiksha school to witness the difference that this cause has made to the lives of all these lovely children," said Irrfan, who was briefly seen teaching a short acting lesson to the children present.

"Education is the cause I deeply care about and when I was growing up, education enabled me to follow my dreams and aspirations. All the success that I have achieved in my career, I owe it to my education. I feel that education plays a very important role in moulding a child's future and is imperative in order to secure the future of the country," he added.

The actor, who will be next seen with Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in "Piku", was also spotted happily answering to all the questions asked by the students of the P&G Shiksha School here.

P&G Shiksha has built and supported more than 330 schools across India and has made a difference to the lives of 50,500 underprivileged children in north India by building and supporting 13 schools.

The P&G Shiksha school here was built in 2003 and in 2010, the number of students was increased from 100 to 300.

Noticing the confidence in the children while interacting with them, Irrfan felt that there will be a time soon when an actor bigger than him will emerge from the classroom.

"After interacting with the school children, I'm sure that in the future we will have a star bigger than Irrfan Khan from this very classroom," he said.

Launched in 2004, P&G India's flagship CSR programme P&G Shiksha has grown immensely with the help of strong support from Bollywood fraternity including Rani Mukerji, John Abraham, Sushmita Sen, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan.
