Indian National Anthem In Big B's Baritone For Republic Day

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Jan, 2015 12:50 PM
  • Indian National Anthem In Big B's Baritone For Republic Day
Describing as "divine" the residence of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore here, megastar Amitabh Bachchan said he has sung the Indian National Anthem - written and composed by Tagore - for a special music video shot in the historic venue and said it would be played across television, radio and theatres on Jan 26.

"A spirit of patriotism and literature, of poetry and pride, of nationhood and divinity, explode within in waves of compassionate emotion.

"I walk through the portals of the residence of Nobel Laureate, poet, writer and the representative of cultural Bengal and indeed in many respects the entire world - Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore, in Kolkata at Jorasanko Thakur Badi, and sing the National Anthem for a visual recording, to be released on our Republic Day, 26th January!," Amitabh posted on his official blog srbachchan.tumblr.com Sunday.

During the shoot, the actor soaked in the ambience of the sprawling residence (called Jorasankao Thakur Bari) tucked away in an alley in north Kolkata.

Stepping into the Tagore ancestral residence, Big B said he was in "awe" of the literary genius.

"It is divinity to me... and to many around the world a divine moment too when we softly step into the rooms of the immaculate Bengal residence of this great son of India, this incredible personality, taking in his words, his belongings and his memory.

"And suddenly the words of the anthem written and composed by Tagore ring through the cool and warm afternoon of the well appointed courtyard of this home, as I walk from corner to corner in utmost awe and admiration of the multifaceted abilities of this great man!," he wrote.

"The Anthem shall be released in theatres on the 26th hopefully, and shall become the voice on the 26th in television stations, radio and other...," he added.
