I'm More Fearless With Fashion Now: Prachi Desai

IANS, 04 Jan, 2016 12:21 PM
Being brave and experimental is Prachi Desai's fashion mantra. The actress says she has come out of her "play safe" mode and she now likes to experiment more when it comes to her style.

“I like to experiment. I think I have become more brave and a little more fearless with time when it comes to fashion. Because when you start out, you are a little cautious as you want to be comfortable and play safe. But I think with time, you get a little more fearless from personal experience," Prachi told IANS.

"I think once that starts happening, then you start enjoying a lot more. I enjoy fashion much more now although I think I need to experiment with way more stuff," she added.

The actress entered showbiz through the small screen. She used to be clad in salwars, suits and saris for her "Kasamh Se", but got a trendy and chic onscreen makeover for her Bollywood debut "Rock On!!" in 2008.

Prachi, who will soon be seen with Emraan Hashmi in "Azhar", a biopic on former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin, feels "fashion is extremely subjective whereas style is very personal".

"Fashion to me is very subjective. There are things which are thought to be in vogue, in style in particular season, but I think it can also be very personalised. So if you are brave enough to experiment and carry things in a very stylish way then it can also be as fashionable as anything else," the actress added.

Talking of experiment, one cannot miss her new short and slick hairdo. Prachi is happy as the hairstyle goes in sync with her professional commitments.

"I have been wanting to go for a short crop since a long time, but there were some sort of commitments which kept me from going for this haircut. Generally in our films, we have long hair as the most glamourous and the most conventional style. But this is something that I wanted for long time and this was the perfect time for it as this hair cut goes well with my look in 'Rock On 2'," she said.

"Rock On 2" is a sequel to "Rock On!!" and brings back some of the original cast members like Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli apart from Prachi along with new entrant Shraddha Kapoor.

Prachi shared her views with IANS about fashion while she was here to inaugurate Shoppers Stop's new store at Janakpuri last month.
