I'm loving being single mother: SRK's 'Fan' heroine Waluscha De Sousa

Darpan News Desk IANS, 03 Apr, 2016 12:38 PM
Waluscha De Sousa, who is making her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in "Fan", says she is enjoying being a single mother in her real life. The model-turned-actress also finds herself lucky to be sharing screen space with superstar as she calls herself his biggest "fan".

Waluscha was previously married to fashion choreographer Marc Robinson, but they went separate ways. Together, they have three children.

Waluscha was at the peak of her modelling career when she decided to marry, and today she has no regrets about it even if the relationship went sour.

"I take life as it comes and I don't fight it. When love found me, I was just 19 years old. I decided to just go with the flow because it felt right at that time," Waluscha told IANS.

"I think with my heart and very seldom with my head, but yes it's what the life has chosen for me. I went on that path and now I am at this side of being a single mother today and I am loving every bit of it," she said on the sidelines of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer-Resort 2016 here.

Waluscha was once again spotted walking on the fashion runway, but this time as a showstopper for designer Saroj Jalan's collection 'Royal Harmony', which celebrated the magnificence of India's unparalleled cultural diversity.

She glided down the ramp wearing a crimson red lehenga and choli, heavily embellished with intricate gold embroidery. It was beautifully accessorised with a red patola dupatta, potli bag, golden matha-patti, nath and long, dangling earrings.

Asked how she felt upon her return to the ramp, Waluscha told IANS: "I did a lot of shows then and now coming back a showstopper just makes me feel that I am on home turf. When I was backstage and I met everybody whom I know, it was a great feeling of achievement."

"I feel that all these years down the line, I have evolved as a woman and as a person."

So with her experience in the modelling world, does she have a message for aspirants in the industry?

She said: "Take a little time and work on yourself. Confidence is very important because you are walking the ramp and when you are displaying someone's clothes, it's a huge responsibility and you are making those garments come alive on ramp. You need to make sure that they sell."

"Go to the gym, eat right, sleep well and live in a happy state of mind," she suggested.

After modeling, she is now geared up for her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Fan", which releases later this month.

"There are only few days left for the film and I hope everyone goes out and watches the film and enjoys it. It is a different film. This is a film about a fan and I consider myself Shah Rukh Khan's fan as well. The only difference is that I got little lucky sharing screen space with him."

Directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Yash Raj Films, the movie, which hits the screens on April 15, will see Shah Rukh in a double role - one as a superstar and other his look-alike fan Gaurav.
