I Don't Want To Depend On Fame: Irrfan Khan

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Oct, 2016 11:16 AM
  • I Don't Want To Depend On Fame: Irrfan Khan
Actor Irrfan Khan, who has carved a niche for himself in India as well as in foreign cinema, says he needs fame to spread his stories around the world, but doesnt want it to become his need.

"I don't want to depend on fame...One day it should not be my need. I would want myself to be free from this need," Irrfan told IANS.

Asked if he is free from the urge to get famous, he said: "No, I am not away from that need right now. I do need acknowledgment because I have stories to share with the audience.

"You do need acknowledgment from the audience - what it (your story) is doing to them and whether it is reaching to them or not."

With projects like "Paan Singh Tomar", "Talvar", "Maqbool", and "7 Khoon Maaf", Irrfan has been lauded for his work in Hindi cinema. And globally, he is known for films like "The Namesake", "Life of Pi", "A Mighty Heart", "Slumdog Millionaire', "The Amazing Spider-Man", and most recent "Inferno".

The actor says he wants to reach that point when he need not care about anything else other than the story.

"Given a choice at one point of time, I don't want to care whether it is reaching or not. If I want to do a story, I will do the story and just be happy by the process and forget about it," he said and added that with fame, come responsibilities.

But he feels that handling those responsibilities depends on an individual.

"It depends on you whether you want to feel responsible or not. It doesn't come with a condition that you have to be responsible. Some people feel responsible and some people don't," he added.
