I Am Not Here To Become A Fashion Icon: Athiya Shetty

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Oct, 2015 01:41 PM
Actress Athiya Shetty may have made her presence felt on the runway but she says she does not see herself as the next fashionista of Bollywood.

The 22-year-old “Hero” actress, who walked the ramp for ace designer duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna on the fourth day of Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 16, said she prefers being subtle and simple when it comes to choosing her look.

“I am not here to become a fashion icon. Whatever I wear comes naturally to me. I don’t want to make a statement when it comes to fashion. I am very simple and minimalistic when it comes to dressing up in my personal life,” Athiya told.

Daughter of actor Suniel Shetty, the one-film-old actress enjoys her time on ramp and always dreamt of being a showstopper.

“Walking the ramp was part of growing up for me. I obviously wanted to be a part of this. I always liked dressing up, do make-up and hair. For me it is a dream come true and I feel very excited when I have to walk the ramp. I am a big fan of Sabyasachi and I would definitely love to walk the ramp for him some day,” she said.

Athiya says she is confident now and open to experiment with her looks.

The actress, whose style sense was appreciated during the appearances she made while promoting her debut film, feels Sonam is the real fashion icon.

“Sonam is a fashion icon, she is amazing when it comes to experimenting with her looks, clothes, she always ends up doing an amazing job. She has created a position for her own.”

On her career front, Athiya is currently going through a lot of scripts and will announce her next film as soon as she chooses one.
