How Did Jasjit Sheirgill Become Jimmy In Bollywood?

    There is a still a part of the hit 1996 film "Maachis" that actor Jimmy Sheirgill is carrying with him and that is the name of his character.
     
    When the actor along with colleague Irrfan Khan came on the sets of “The Kapil Sharma Show” to promote their forthcoming film “Madaari”, Jimmy shared how his name was changed. 
     
    “While shooting for my first film 'Maachis', my character name was Jimmy and I liked that name very much,” Jimmy said in a statement.
     
    He added: “Everyone around me started calling me Jimmy and hence I changed my name to Jimmy from Jasjit. Even today the starting credits of the movie 'Maachis' mention my name as Jasjit Singh Gill… But then onwards I changed my name to Jimmy.”
     
    The episode with the stars will air on Sunday on Sony Entertainment Television.
